The game has seven participants on each side, with human players controlling four of those players on each side. The regulations of the game have been altered to place a greater emphasis on rapid turnover and original gameplay. The primary gameplay mode is known as 4v4, which pits two teams of four players against one another. This means that each squad will consist of four players. Additionally, ranked and casual options for 4v4 competition are included in the game.

There are eight SuperStars in STG Football, and they are split evenly between the offensive and defensive positions. The positions of quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and Flex make up the offense. Linebacker, Cornerback, Safety, and Rusher are the different positions that make up the Defense. The game is broken up into four quarters, each lasting one minute and fifteen seconds, and each squad has access to three timeouts during each half. In addition, there are penalties, extended overtime periods for breaking ties, and multiple methods to score points in this game.

Players can gain experience points (XP) for their accounts and profiles simply by playing the game, and they will receive rewards for high performance, consistent play, and more. In addition, players have the opportunity to acquire a variety of rewards as they advance through their account and profile levels. These rewards can include in-game currency, cosmetic rewards, and access to pack discounts and special events. Tokens are limited in supply and can be won through participation in events. These tokens can be used for staking, leveling up SuperStars, purchasing limited edition packs and NFTs, and participating in Franchise competitions.
